We had a super weekend! Saturday started out rainy but we all loaded in the van and went to Walmart to exchange the dresser I picked up weeks ago. We picked up some groceries, complete with Girl Scout Cookies that the troops were selling in front of Walmart. Then we came home and started deep cleaning the house. It felt so good getting it done! Even though I burnt my nose hairs with all the Clorox Cleanup I used that afternoon, it was well worth it. We invited some friends over for supper so this was the only way I’d get motivated enough to tackle this huge cleaning job and we got ‘er done! Sunday we went to early service, against Avery’s wishes. But it was Avery that gave his consent to coming to early church again next week, thanks to a little girl named Dusty. Erik informed him that when he was Avery’s age, he had a girlfriend named Dusty too. Too funny! We came home, ate lunch, then the older 2 went to their friends for the afternoon while Erik, Braden, and I took a nap. When we got up, we sat outside and got some sun! As I hear the weather report in Iowa of ice and snow, I thoroughly enjoyed staying toasty warm in the Texas sun. Seems like just when I really want to return to Iowa, I have a moment like yesterday where I thought I was in heaven! Suntanning in February? Have you ever heard of such a thing? Today is the last of of my 4 day stretch off work and I’m not sure what we have planned. Probably just hanging out and playing with Braden today. I slept on my neck wrong and am paying for it today. All in all a super great weekend for me!
If you want to check out home videos of the kids, goto Erik’s YouTube page… http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=esheldon76 and bookmark it. We will be uploading video when the baby is born, like the kid’s reaction to their new brother for example. We will be uploading lots of cute, funny videos here so make it one of your favorites if you follow along in our lives. Right now, Erik has 2 clippets of Avery’s school play on there, Jaelyn’s birthday party and her getting her ears pierced, and then some other ones I can’t remember.
Jaelyn got nominated for the kindergarten and first grade talented and gifted program called S.P.I.C.E. (As you recall, Avery was in S.P.I.C.E. and then in 2nd grade he was bumped up into the W.I.N.G.S. program. We are so happy for her because she is so proud of herself and all her hard work this year so far. What a great way to start your school career!
I have a 4 day stretch OFF work! The weather has been in the 80’s and sunny the last 2 days here. Of course today we are looking at an overcast sky. Go figure! It’s usually when I have the day off that it’s rainy. But at least it’s not cold and not extremely hot either.
So I was partly right on my prediction of Grey’s Anatomy last night. I said that Meredith’s mom would die and she did. Working in healthcare, I think what ruined it for me was that they extubated her right after she got her heart beat back after coding her for like 4 hrs (wouldn’t happen) and also she was able to talk and didn’t have some sort of brain damage from being down under the water and also from being dead for so long. It wasn’t realistic to me. But I’m glad she lived and the show will go on with her storyline too. And I’m glad to have finally seen some emotion from Christine and hear a little more about her story losing her father at the age of 9. And I have to admit, I was almost brought to tears when I saw how Denny and Steven’s would connect even though he is dead. That was cool to see at the end. I believe that happens too. That the spirit of the dead can sometimes be standing right next to you and you just sense it. All in all, a good show last night and I’ll keep watching. Of course I will, I’m addicted to it!
Tonight is the 2nd grade music program at the school. It starts at 7 and Avery has a solo singing part! The play is called, “How does your garden grow?” Avery was lucky enough to get a “weed” role. He has to wear a camo shirt and he will be singing a solo in what he describes as the “gangsta’ rap” portion of the show. I’m pretty certain it can’t be considered gangster if you sing about actual weeds or flowers, but I may be mistaken. Should be cute either way. He is nervous about singing in front of everyone but he’ll do great. His music teacher said even last year that he has a great voice for a kid his age. He has been going to school 30 minutes early 3 days a week working on this play so he should be proud of all the hard work he has put into it.
