Fun times so far! [Food for thought] — Administrator @

The Roos Reunion went awesome! We had 28 people at my parents and the weather, although hot and windy, was perfect! We took tons of photos and I really enjoyed seeing everyone again. Today my brothers and their families left, tomorrow my sister is heading back to Des Moines. We are going boating with my parents and if the weather cooperates, fishing at Lake Shatek. Then Wednesday we are going to OC to see my grandma in the nursing home and then on to Sioux Falls for a night at the hotel and Thursday all day at the zoo. Busy but fun! I haven’t been on a vacation with my family since I was pregnant with Jaelyn, about 6 summers ago!

Happy Anniversary this week to my inlaws! And also happy birthday to my sister in law Taya! More to come later…

Can you say “HANDS DOWN” it’s gonna be Taylor tonight? I’m not sure why each sang repeated songs for the first 2 but the last song for Kathryn SUCKED! She was squeaky, pitchy, sharp, sounded like she was screaming. I think everyone in America including Kat’s own mother cringed hearing her murder that song. Taylor on the other hand has a song that was fit for his voice, in his range, and told his story on AI. Genius! We’ll see tonight I guess! We tried voting but the lines were jammed packed.

Today Avery is getting an award at school for being a Super Reader. It’s at 9am. Jaelyn is complaining of a stomach ache and feels like she’s gonna puke. I gave her some medicine but she’s miserable. I am taking a huge chance with bringing her if she’s not feeling well but that is the joy of juggling the schedules of 3 children.

Our neighbors are wonderful. I work with a gal who lives down the street from me, just a block or so around the corner. She said she is going to help keep an eye out for any trouble with the house when we are gone. Also, our other neighbor, Melvin, is going to watch the house too. And so will my inlaws I’m sure. So with that said, I’m comfortable posting our iternary:
May 26th-Leaving, attempting to drive 14 hours to Omaha but we’ll see how it goes.
May 27th-Finish the drive and end up in MN
May 28th-Reunion in MN
May 31-June 1-Sioux Falls Zoo and overnight, stopping first to see Grandma in Orange City
June 2nd-Leave MN and head to Des Moines
June 3-Jodi’s in am, Nick’s Bachelor Party for Erik, Kids and Myself to Sharon’s in evening
June 4-Church at Hope, Reunion at Grandpa’s afternoon/lunchtime
June 5-Amber in am, Megan in afternoon, Erik Sr in evening
June 6-Shayla lunch, Steele’s and Greufe’s in Madrid for bowling and supper
June 7-My 9 yr anniversary! Autumn’s, Moyle reunion evening
June 8-All day with Jim, Sheldon Reunion in evening
June 9-Justine, then rehearsal at night
June 10-Nick and Mary’s wedding, Shelly’s birthday
June 11-Back to Texas early am

As you can see, we are super busy! I figured out we will be in the van driving to/from somewhere or another about 48 hours this trip, and that’s NOT counting the time with the intown drives. Good thing we have portible DVD players!

I work tomorrow so this is most likely my last post for a while. Catch ya later!

Did I mention it’s been in the mid 90’s, in the shade, these last few days? It’s awesome! Can’t wait for the pool to open up!

Avery [Food for thought] — Administrator @

It’s the last week of school. Today they have their class picnic and then it’s awards day tomorrow, which I’m gonna try to goto. Thursday they get out at 11:30. We found out Avery was accepted into the WINGS program, the talented and gifted program for 2nd-6th graders. He scored relatively high on all his tests 90% and higher. He’s also been asking to ride his bike to school from basically day 1. We finally let him ride this week. Today was his first day. Yes, he had a helmit on. Erik drove behind him to make sure he was following the rules, like watching for cars and also made sure he knew how to lock up his bike. I think for his birthday we will have to get him a new bigger bike. He’s just outgrown this one. And he wants to be a bike rider next year. Since Jaelyn will be in kindergarten at the same school but gets out at 2pm instead of 3:15, we think him riding his bike will work out great. A ton of kids do it too he’s thinks he’s cool to join them.

Braden has his 2yr check up today. I’m packing. Jaelyn’s hangin’ out.

Who will be the winner tonight in American Idol? My money’s on Taylor. We’ve liked him since day 1, along with Chris. I think this has been a tough year for the contestants and for the judges since all are unique and good. Kat is good too but here’s how I see it: Both can sing, both can’t dance, but Taylor has more personality than Kat. That’s why America is going to vote for him.

May Blues [Food for thought] — Administrator @

May has been absolutely insane for our family! Erik’s 30th birthday party, soccer games and practices, Braden’s birthday, last day of school events like awards day and picnics, baby showers, Mother’s day, chiropractic appts for a messed up back, planning and shopping for our 18 day vacation and 20 hr road trip with 3 kids, and then throw in a full time job and extra days for meetings. I feel like my head is about to blow off! I’ve had to turn down someone from church who needed all the nurses to unite and help out this young mom needing in home IV antibiotic therapy 6 times a day. I felt bad but I’m on edge and that would just make it worse, which isn’t good for me right now. Then there is the whole added stress of finding a place for my dog while we are gone because we may not be able to bring her. Do I want to bring her? Not really because I’ll already have my hands full with the kids but I will really miss her as will my kids and husband. And the guilt of leaving her with a stranger for the first part of our trip is heavy on my heart. This is a dog who was brought back to the animal shelter twice and already has separation anxiety when we are gone. I can’t imagine what she will think and how she will act when we get home. (Kind of like when kids go to Grandma’s for the whole week and come back being disrespectful and bossy?) So trying to find someone to take a dog for 10 days isn’t easy! My mother in law is up for taking her once they get back from their vacation on June 5th but until then who knows what we are going to do. Ever feel like you can’t get off the roller coaster? That’s me this month. Even antianxiety meds aren’t working. I’m not sleeping well either. I just need this month to be over with.
